Has anyone's child moved from ICSE to Goldcrest in Gachibowli around class 8?

Worried about my son's marks in the language-heavy subjects. He's 12, in an ICSE school in Banjara Hills, along with his sister. He does well in maths and science but English literature and history are pulling everything down, and he's started saying he's 'bad at school'. My partner's office is in Gachibowli and Goldcrest is near there. I'd love to hear from anyone whose child joined a CBSE school around class 7 or 8 from ICSE, whether at Goldcrest or elsewhere. Did the move actually help, or did they just carry the same struggle to a new place? ❤️

My son's in CBSE, class 7. Two boys joined his class this year from ICSE schools. From what I've seen at the PTMs, they were ahead of the class in English writing, and maths was more or less level. One of them found Hindi harder than anything else because he'd done it differently before.

A neighbour's son here in Gachibowli moved there from ICSE in class 7. He told me the Hindi was the hardest part, the rest he managed. Worth checking which second language your son would take.

I would separate two things here: the board and the language. From my work on curriculum, the second language is usually the bigger adjustment in an ICSE to CBSE move, not the core subjects. On the larger question, I'd be cautious about assuming a board change will fix a confidence problem. CBSE English and social science also involve a fair amount of writing. It may help to find out first whether the difficulty is the volume of writing, the reading, or how answers are marked.
