Group project at a classmate's house on Saturday, and I've never met the parents

fern_pigeon_3414

My son's class 6 science group wants to meet at one boy's house this Saturday to build their model. I'm away on a customer visit till Sunday, so my sister would drop him and pick him up. I don't know this family at all. He's 10, it's daytime, four boys. Most likely completely fine. But I've always met someone before he goes to a new house, and this time I can't. Do you insist on meeting or at least speaking to the parents first, or is a school group project different?

A phone call with the mother is enough. Ask who will be home and what time to collect him.

I'd still call, less to check on them and more so they have your number while you're away. If anything comes up on Saturday, the other parent should know it's your sister collecting him and how to reach you. That matters more to me than meeting them in person.
