Grandparents quiz our 6 year old on capitals every video call. She gets most wrong, and they blame the IB

My parents in Kerala call every evening, and my father has started a little quiz. Capital of Rajasthan, who wrote the national anthem, how many states. She enjoys it and gets most of them wrong. He has concluded that her school 'teaches nothing'. Her class is doing a unit on water this term, and she can explain the water cycle better than I can. Should I make a small effort with general knowledge at home, or let my father keep quizzing and her keep enjoying it?

Our son's grandparents do the same, also from Kerala. We turned it round: he asks them a question back about whatever he did in school that week. They lose more often than they'd like to admit, and the comments about the school stopped.

That's brilliant. My father is going to hate losing to the water cycle. Trying it tomorrow.

Ha, we're in Alwal too and my mother does this with ours. Questions back is a good idea. Our daughter learnt her capitals from a map shower curtain, if you want something low effort.
