From a three-hour UKG day to 8 till 3 in class 1. How long did yours take to adjust?

Son finishes UKG with a half day. From June it's 8 to 3. He already crashes at 4 most afternoons as it is. Did yours settle into the long day within a few weeks, or was the whole first term rough?

Our son's jump was smaller and he still fell asleep in the car every afternoon for the whole first month. Two things helped: a proper snack at pickup, not once he was home, and keeping evenings almost empty till September.

  Snack at pickup is easy. Empty evenings will be harder, his sister has plans for him.
