First week back and the teacher says half the class has forgotten subtraction

quiet_hammock_9324

School reopened this week. The class teacher sent a note asking parents to revise borrowing in subtraction because many children have forgotten it over the holidays. Mine is definitely one of them. How much do you do at home for this? Worksheets in the evening, or just get her working out small sums during the day?

mine is younger but i saw the same with reading after the break. it came back on its own after about two weeks of school. i didn't do much, mostly out of tiredness

Small sums during the day, in my experience. Evening worksheets became a negotiation by the second week. What worked was handing him the change to count at the vegetable shop. Ten minutes, no paper, and he didn't notice it was revision.

The vegetable shop idea is good, she already likes paying. Will try it this weekend.
