First outing with our one month old was a twenty-minute clinic visit. I packed two bags

Nappies for a full day, three changes of clothes, two swaddles, a blanket, wipes, the thermometer, a backup thermometer, and a bottle we don't use. My partner took one look at the car boot and asked if we were driving to Lucknow. He slept the whole way there, through the weigh-in, and the whole way back. Not one bag was opened.

My mother packed like this for my brother when he left for his inter hostel last week, and he's 16. Tiffin, spare towels, a whole bag of murukulu, for a hostel that serves three meals a day. It doesn't stop.

With our first we carried the whole house. With the second, one nappy in my pocket and that's it 🙂 Somewhere in between is right. Keep the backup thermometer though, that one I respect.

One nappy in a pocket sounds like a fantasy right now. Maybe by the time he's walking.
