Took my 6 year old for her first badminton class today. She was given a racquet, held it for about two minutes, put it down carefully, and then spent the whole hour picking up shuttlecocks and handing them back to the older kids. She says it was the best class ever. The coach said "very helpful girl". I paid for a month.
Our younger one did this at 6 too. He is in middle school now and still the fastest shuttle collector on the court 🙂
Did she enjoy it? Then the hour was not wasted.
The coach will put a racquet back in her hand soon enough. Our elder one was the official ball boy at tennis for his first month and refused to give up the job.
What age do badminton classes usually take children? Mine is 4 and wants to go wherever her cousin goes.
When my daughter started at 6, the coach told us the problem with smaller kids was the racquet weight more than the age. Ask for one trial class and see if she can hold it up 🙂
Our son's place took him at 5 in a mini batch. Half an hour only, mostly throwing and catching.
