Expecting our second and realising we don't know any parents near Masab Tank

Second baby on the way. With my first I had colleagues around, but they're colleagues, not people I'd call to watch my daughter for an hour. Nearest relative is in another city. I'd like to know a few parents nearby. Walk in the evening, swap a hand-me-down, that kind of thing. What I don't want is a 200-member group chat buzzing all day 🤷 How did people find that smaller circle?

the ones that lasted for me were tiny. four or five mothers from the park we went to every evening, who started talking because our kids kept stealing each other's toys. big building groups never turned into anything

Daycare pickup was where we met people. Same faces at the same gate every evening, eventually you start talking. Two families we now see on weekends.

  • muted the building group within a week. its all lost parcels and water tanker complaints. what worked was the school bus stop, same 6 parents every morning, now we cover for each other

Bus stop is a good thought, she only starts the school bus next June though. Will keep an eye out.
