Schools Begumpet, Hyderabad Air Force School

Do civilian families apply to Air Force School in Begumpet, or is it mainly for Air Force children?

My design studio is moving to an office near Begumpet later this year, and we've started wondering whether a school on that side would make mornings easier than the long run from Gopanpally. Air Force School came to mind as it's CBSE and goes from LKG to class 10. The part I'm unsure about is who it is meant for. Do families with no defence connection apply and get in, or is that rare? Our two are in UKG and class 2 now, so we'd be looking at next June.

No idea about the admission side, but think about the drive before the school. From Gopanpally to Begumpet at school hours you'd be crossing Jubilee Hills and Panjagutta twice a day unless you also move. My niece's family weighed a similar switch last year, and what decided it was timing the drive on three ordinary weekdays, not the map estimate.

We're in Secunderabad and have driven past it for years. I've heard both versions from people around us, some say civilian children do get in, some say it's mostly defence families, and none of them had actually applied. Worth calling the office and asking what the criteria are before you plan around it.

  Asking because we're years away with ours: has anyone found admission criteria like this written down anywhere, or is it always a phone call? I'm starting to notice every school answers that question differently.

Sorry to ask in your post, do they have interview for LKG? My son is 2, next year we have to start looking. He is not talking much yet, only few words, so I am scared of any interview. We are in Moosapet, Begumpet is not so far for us.

I pass it every day on the bus from Ameerpet. Can't help with admissions, but the stretch in front gets very slow around 8 when all the school vans come in. If your office is close it may still work out better than Gopanpally, just keep buffer time.

  Thank you, that's useful. The office would be ten minutes away, so the van rush worries me less than the first half of the drive. I'll call them this week about the criteria before anyone at home gets attached to the idea.
