Delhi heat, and our 18 month old will only eat food that's cold from the fridge

citrus_balcony_7241

It started with curd, which is fair in this weather. Now it's everything. Dal rice warmed for her gets pushed away; the same dal rice an hour later, straight out of the fridge, she eats happily. Daycare noticed it too and has started keeping her lunch box out of the warmer. My partner is fine with it. My mother is not, and is convinced cold food will give her a throat infection. Did other toddlers go through this in the summer? And is there any reason to worry about cold dal, apart from my mother?

cold-rasam phase here, at about that age. drank it like soup out of a steel tumbler, in december. i don't remember it ending, she just moved on to the next strange thing. no throat infections that i can recall, though my memory of those years is mostly a blur

Our son is around that age too, and with him it's fruit. Watermelon is only acceptable if it has been in the fridge. I'd try room temperature as a middle step rather than fighting it. We take his food out twenty minutes before and he doesn't seem to notice the difference. If she's eating and drinking well, I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Writing this after a late list, so take it as one tired parent's view ❤️

A middle step makes sense. Will try it at dinner today. Daycare will be easier to convince than my mother.

Tried it. Dal and rice out of the fridge at seven, on her plate by twenty past. She ate most of it, then pointed at the fridge for the cold curd anyway. I'll take that.
