Daycare opens half an hour later from mid-June, and my one fixed office day starts at 9

Our daughter's daycare sent a notice last week that from 15 June they will open at 8.30 instead of 8. On most days that's fine because I work from home. Thursday is release day, though, and I have to be at my desk in Hitec City by 9. From Habsiguda, with an 8.30 drop, that is not happening. My partner runs a business and has offered to take Thursdays, but mornings are when deliveries come in, so it only moves the problem from one of us to the other. Has anyone asked a daycare for an early drop on one fixed day of the week, or did you end up changing something at work instead?

ask them. my granddaughter's old daycare had two staff who came in at 8 anyway to set up, and they took two or three children early if parents asked. never advertised, small extra charge. one fixed day a week is an easy ask

From a long way back: when our daughter was at daycare I also had one fixed client day. What worked in the end wasn't the daycare but moving my start to 9.30 on that one day and staying later. Most managers will agree to a specific day if you name it and the reason. They resist general flexibility far more than one fixed exception.

The reason they're moving it is almost always staff. Early shifts are the hardest to fill and June is when people leave. So by all means ask for an early drop, but also ask what happens when the one early person is on leave. That's the Thursday you'll be stuck :)

this is pretty much how it went with our preschool last year. the early lady went on leave the first week, which was also the week of our big release. i worked from the car outside the gate till they opened. not advice, just how it went
