Day boarding for a class 5 girl. Real help, or just a longer school day?

banyan_pool_6146

A few schools on my route to the client site advertise day boarding till 6, with a study hour, snacks and games. My daughter's school doesn't have it. My partner is a doctor, I'm at client sites half the week, and the grandparents cover only some days. On paper it solves everything 😄 What I can't picture is the actual afternoon. Is the study hour real homework time, or forty kids in a hall? Anyone whose child does this?

Not ours, but a colleague's daughter has done day boarding in Gachibowli since class 3. She comes home with homework finished and nothing left to fight about in the evening, which is what they wanted. The trade is that she's on campus nearly eleven hours, and by Friday she's wiped out.

Who supervises the study hour? That is the question I would put to the school. Subject teachers staying back is one thing; general staff watching a hall is quite another.

mine did a version of this years ago. she was tired in a different way, not a worse way. the evenings got shorter but nicer, since nobody was nagging about homework anymore.
