Daughter wants to go into UX research, like me. What would she even study for it?

My daughter sat in on one of my remote research sessions during the holidays, with the participant's permission, and has since decided this is what she wants to do. I'm touched, and a little unsure how to guide her, because I came into this field sideways, like most people I work with. She's in DP now and will start looking at universities next year. Is there an undergraduate route that makes sense, or is it better to study something broad and move in later? Any parents here whose children went into design, psychology or HCI-type courses?

From the students I've taught, the ones who moved towards this area did it through design or psychology degrees, and a couple through computer science. A decent level of maths helped all of them more than they expected. I wouldn't push her to pick the final label yet.

My son just started his first job, on a product team. He says half the people around him studied something unrelated. So broad first seems fine.

What are her DP subjects? That might matter more than the degree name at this point.

True. My son nearly dropped maths after 10th and was glad later that he didn't.

      Replying to @breezy_camera_2470

She's doing maths and visual arts, so hopefully a few doors stay open. Thank you both, this is reassuring ❤
