Coach says a district kho-kho certificate will help my daughter's college admission. Will it?

She's in class 10 and plays kho-kho for the school. The coach wants her at the district selections next month and keeps saying the certificate "counts for admissions later". Counts where? Which colleges? He doesn't say. I'm not against her playing. I want to know if this is a real reason or something coaches say to keep parents signing up for extra sessions.

my cousin got a college seat through sports quota years back but that was state level volleyball, not district. not sure district alone does much. ask him to name one college

That matches what I have heard, though I have no first-hand experience of it. My son's cricket academy made a similar claim last year, and when I asked which admission process they meant, the answer was a general one about "sports category" seats. My assumption is that the level of the certificate matters a great deal. I would ask the coach for one college by name and then read that college's prospectus yourself.

Ask the older girls on the team, the ones who've finished 12th. They'll know if anyone used it for anything. And if she enjoys it, the certificate is a bonus either way
