Class teacher recommends 'one hour of self-study daily' for class 7. What does that hour look like in your house?
At the parents' meeting before reopening, the class 7 teacher asked for one hour of self-study at home every day, separate from homework. Everyone nodded. I wrote it down. What I don't know is what a 12 year old is supposed to do in that hour when there is no test coming. Read the day's chapter again? Practise sums from the back of the book? Make notes? My son's version, on the first evening, was reorganising his pencil box. If your child does something like this regularly, I would like the boring details: when in the evening, how you check it, and whether it survives past the first month.
