Class 9 starts at 7.10 am from June. She has badminton till 8 at night

School has moved the senior classes to an earlier start, so the bus will come at about 6.20. She trains four evenings a week and isn't home before 8.30. How do your teenagers manage sleep on a timetable like this? Did something have to give?

Ours aren't teenagers yet, but our school day starts at 7.30 and the only thing that worked was moving dinner earlier. Food by 7.30 even if it means eating in the car on the way back, then bath and bed. Weekends we let them sleep.

Our son had a term like this at 15 with an early start and cricket. What helped was a fixed lights-out on school nights, the same time every night, instead of 'as early as possible'. Is her training timing fixed, or could one or two days move to the weekend?

We had a 7.15 start one term and my son fell asleep on the sofa at 7.30 pm most days. He's five, so not the same thing, but the adjustment took about three weeks. Hopefully hers is quicker.

My brother played badminton seriously all through school. In class 9 he dropped to three evenings a week and kept his level. He said later the tiredness hurt his game more than the missed day did.
