Class 9 son has realised the school app tells me about his diary remarks before he's home

He got a diary remark today for an incomplete notebook. I saw it at 2 pm. By the time he walked in at 4.30 he had a full speech ready, and it opened with 'before you check your phone'. He has now asked, very reasonably, for a 30 minute head start on all future notifications 🙂

From the school side: remarks go out during the day precisely so parents hear it before the child's version is ready. Your son has found the counter-move. Respect 🤷

So it's an arms race by design. I'll tell him the school started it.

Our daughter goes the other way. She forwards me the remark herself, with three lines of context, before the app does. Pre-emptive damage control.

That's the senior version of the skill. Mine is still at the speech stage.

Reading this before a 6 am list and laughing. Mine is still small and already says 'don't ask teacher' about anything that happened at school.
