Class 12 commerce and CA Foundation coaching in the same year?

mango_balcony_1110

Our daughter has just started class 12 commerce. Three of her friends have joined a combined coaching that covers the board syllabus and CA Foundation together, with classes six days a week after school. She wants to join too so that she 'doesn't lose a year'. I teach young children and know very little about how the CA route works after class 12. Is it sensible to prepare for Foundation alongside the boards, or does the board year suffer for it?

Who says she loses a year? The coaching centre or the friends? Ask her what she wants after 12th first. If it is CA, fine. If she isn't sure, six days a week is a lot to sign up for on a maybe.

Fair question. It's mostly the friends, plus a seminar the coaching centre held at their school last month. When I asked her directly she said 'CA or maybe BCom', which isn't really a yes. We'll sit down this weekend before we pay anything.

'CA or maybe BCom' is a very honest answer at her age. Our daughter's friends move as a group too, and the group decision always sounds more certain than any one of them is. If the centre allows a trial week, that might tell you more than another conversation. Good luck with the weekend talk ❤️
