Class 10 daughter wants Saturday video-call study sessions with friends. Useful or mostly social?

My daughter (class 10, state board) and three girls from her section want to do a video call every Saturday afternoon, cameras on, each of them taking one chapter and explaining it to the others. My daughter says they will "cover chapters faster together". I am not against it. I just remember my own group study days, which were 20 percent study and 80 percent chatting. With the half-yearlies just finished and the board year getting serious, I would like a sense from parents who have allowed something like this. Did it help or did the marks tell another story?

I would ask her, after the first Saturday, what exactly they did: which chapter, who explained what, how long. If the answer is specific, it is probably working. If it is "we studied", you have your answer. In my experience with students the groups that work usually have a plan written before they meet. The chatting is fine either way.
