3 month old at home. Our caregiver has been with us since the birth and covers my working hours. She has asked for Saturdays off from July, which is completely fair. Problem is I have Saturday theatre lists twice a month and my partner's business is busiest on weekends. We never tested a backup. What do people do for one fixed day a week with a baby this small?
Our daughter is 15 now so this is from memory. When she was a baby, her ajji came on Saturdays for almost a year, and when ajji couldn't, her amma's friend's helper came for the day. Ask your caregiver if she knows someone she trusts. Usually they have a sister or a neighbour who does the same work, and the baby gets someone familiar to her.
We use a daycare for release Saturdays when both of us are stuck. Ours is 10 months though. Some daycares near us take babies for Saturday half days, but many don't take under-6-months at all, so ask that first. I'd do a trial Saturday or two before July, while your caregiver is still around to hand over.
