Both girls are in the same badminton batch, and the younger one has started winning

Two years they've played at the same academy, same coach, same 6.30 batch. Till April akka won every practice game. This month chelli has beaten her four times, and now akka says she wants to 'take a break from badminton for class 10'. Class 10 is a real reason, I know. But she was fine with class 10 and badminton together two months ago. Do I let her stop, ask the coach to put them in different groups, or leave it and see if it settles? The little one is thrilled, obviously 🙂

We see a small version of this at home with board games. My daughter refused to play Ludo for months after her cousin started winning, then came back once nobody was keeping score. If the coach can keep them on different courts for practice games for a few weeks, the elder one might keep playing without the daily comparison. I wouldn't tell her that's the reason, though.

Different courts is fine, but ask her straight whether she wants to keep playing. If she says no, class 10 is a perfectly good exit and she doesn't lose face. If she says yes, separate batches. Don't build a strategy around a teenager's pride.
