At work I tell parents to stop checking the school portal daily. I check my daughter's every night

Occupational hazard, I suppose. At PTMs I'm the one telling parents that a 13 year old needs room to forget a homework and face the consequence. Then I go home, open her portal before dinner, see a missing assignment and ask about it before she has put her bag down. Our ammayi has noticed. Last week she said, 'You know before I do, so why should I check?' Fair point, annoyingly. Has anyone managed to stop? Did you quit at once or taper off, and how long before they started checking for themselves?

I stopped logging in on weekdays and kept only Sunday evening, when we look at it together. The first month he missed two things and got a remark in his diary. After that he started asking for my phone to check on his own. Not every week, but more than before.

Sunday together is a good compromise. The remark is where I'll struggle. Professionally I know it's fine. As a nanna, less so 🙂

      Replying to @fern_moon_1255

The remark is the point, though. With my daughter, nothing I said about planning worked as well as one zero for a missed worksheet in class 8. The thing I would watch is how up to date the portal is. Ours was often a day behind, and she learnt to trust her own diary over it.
