Asking for my niece, who is looking at Holy Mothers Grammar School in Malakpet for nursery

moss_pool_8034

My niece lives in Malakpet and is looking at nursery for her son for next year. Holy Mothers Grammar School is close to her home, which matters because she has a long working day. She asked me to post since I'm the one who reads this forum :) She hasn't visited yet. What should she look for at a nursery visit, and has anyone been to the school or know families there who could say how the little ones' day looks? I've told her not to expect anyone to know the inside story, just experiences.

  • Walking distance at nursery age is worth more than people think. My son's first school was ten minutes from our house and it saved us on every sick day, every rainy day and every forgotten water bottle. If it's close and she likes it at the visit, that counts for a lot ❤

is her son already toilet trained? some nurseries ask about it at the interaction. no idea about this school specifically, just something we're going through with our 2 yr old now

One thing to ask: what time do nursery children finish compared with the older classes? The school we chose sends the little ones home much earlier than the big kids, and it caught us out. If your niece works long hours she'll want to know about that and whether there's any after-school arrangement.

Good point, she works till 5. I'll tell her to ask about that first.

  • I would suggest she ask whether parents may see a nursery class during a normal morning, even for ten minutes. A short look at how teachers settle a crying child tells you more than the brochure. I don't know this school, so I can only suggest the question.
