Asking about nursery at Javid Mission High School, Falaknuma, on behalf of my clinic assistant

fern_lantern_5522

One of the assistants at my clinic lives in Falaknuma and wants to put her daughter in nursery at Javid Mission High School. She isn't on any of these groups and asked if I'd post for her. What she wants to know: what age they take for nursery, roughly what time the small children finish, and whether it's better to walk in during reopening week or wait till things settle. She works till 2 most days.

Not this school specifically, but as a teacher: tell her to go in person in the first or second week and carry the birth certificate and Aadhaar, plus photocopies. School offices in June are chaotic, but that's also when they have the forms in hand and the staff to answer questions. Waiting till July sometimes means hearing "come back next year".

Agree with going early. When our son was small we went in the second week of June and the office had time for us. A month later, at another school, nobody could tell us anything because the person who handled admissions was busy with exams.

Is she sure it's for this June? For our younger one, most of the places we asked had sorted their nursery seats by March. Some still had a few left in June, so it's worth trying. She should just be ready for a waitlist.

Does she have a preference on second language? For a State Board school that's the question I'd want answered first, because it decides a lot about the later classes.

On that side many families would want Urdu. She should ask directly whether nursery has any Urdu at all or whether it starts in a later class, and what the options are if she prefers Telugu or Hindi.

Could you clarify what kind of information she wants? If it's the process, the office is the only reliable source. If it's how the school feels day to day, the easiest way is to stand at the gate at dismissal in the first week and ask a couple of parents. People are usually happy to talk while they wait.

both really. she's a bit shy about walking into the office on her own, that's half the reason she asked me. i'll tell her about the dismissal time idea, she can take her sister along
