A school I work with has offered to 'find a seat' for our younger one. Should I take it?

My company runs programmes in several schools, and one of the principals I deal with knows we're looking at options for our younger son for next June. On a call last week she said, kindly and quite openly, that she'd find a seat if we applied. No money involved, nothing like that. The school is decent and close enough. But I'd be a parent there and also a vendor, and I'm not sure how I'd raise a concern about a teacher, or how my next contract would look. My partner says I'm overthinking a favour anyone would take. Has anyone been in a similar spot?

I'd take it 🙂 Everyone uses whatever connection they have for admissions, and you're not paying anybody. The vendor part will sort itself out. If the school is good, the rest is noise.

'It will sort itself out' is a big assumption. What happens the first time she disagrees with this principal in a contract meeting while her son is in the school?

if he'd get in anyway without the favour, it's not really a favour. if not, that's your answer 😄

would you be ok with other parents knowing how he got in. that's my test for these things

we're in the same lkg hunt. if i had this i'd take it and keep work separate. but i'm not the one with a contract on the line

Keeping work separate is harder than it sounds once you're in the parents' WhatsApp group and someone works out who you are 🙂

i'd separate them. apply through the normal process, thank the principal and say you'd like it done the usual way. if he gets in, he got in

Yes. And put it in writing that you declined the offer. Memories change when contracts come up for renewal.

I run a similar business. A school we work with once offered the same. I said no and kept them as a client. Easier sleep.
