7 year old wants pocket money like his friend. The 4 year old will want whatever he gets

A boy in his class gets a small amount every week and my elder son has asked for the same. I don't mind starting. He's old enough to understand saving up for something. The trouble is the younger one, who copies everything. If one gets money, the other wants exactly the same, and a 4 year old with cash is just a 4 year old losing coins under the sofa. Same amount for both, different amounts, or wait till the younger one is older and live with the complaints?

Different amounts, same day. The little one gets coins in a jar he can see but not spend alone. Mine is 4 and the jar is the exciting part, not the money.

We haven't started with our 5 year old yet. A colleague does 'your age in rupees every week' for his two. The older one gets more, and the younger one accepts it because it's a rule, not a favour. No idea how long that holds.
