3 year old understands telugu but only answers in english

daughter is 3. her grandmother talks to her only in telugu, she understands all of it and replies in english every time. now ammamma has started switching to english to keep up, which is the opposite of what we want. daycare and everything else is english. any ideas that are actually fun and not drills

Bedtime stories in Telugu helped a little for us. My son is 4. We kept two or three Telugu picture books only for night, and his grandparents read the same ones on video call on their days. He still answers in English mostly, but he asks for the Telugu stories by name now. Small win.
