Our daughter's school is 45 minutes away and Epistemo is five. Move her for class 10 or wait for 11?

2on Office moving to Balanagar. NSKK High School for our younger one, near work instead of near home?
Don't know NSKK, sorry. But I'd think hard before splitting the two of them across opposite ends of the city. When you travel for work, who does the Balanagar run? The first trip is where it all falls apart, ente ammo.
2on Son wants to leave the hostel and share a flat with three friends this year
Talk to the other parents, definitely. When I moved from hostel to a flat in my own college days, only one friend's father bothered to, and he was the one who got our deposit back from the landlord. The rest of us just complained.
0on My 9 year old wants pakhala every day, even now that it's raining
The fridge takes away the sourness he's asking for, I think. We do pazhankanji at home, overnight in a clay pot, but only in the cooler months. In July my amma soaks it in the morning for lunch and the children don't notice.
1on First-year baby budget spreadsheet: which costs did I miss?
Birthday gifts is so real. Our little one isn't even two and she already gets invited to more parties than her chechi does at fifteen 🙂
1on Everyone says read to her from birth. What does that look like at four months?
The ceiling fan phase is real. With my little one, now one and a half, 'reading' at that age was mostly me pointing at a picture and saying the word in Malayalam and English while she chewed the corner. Ammachi sang the same two songs to her from the same book every night, and that's still the one she reaches for. With my elder girl I started proper stories much later and she still became the reader in the house, so I wouldn't worry about doing it right.
2on Class 10 starts in two weeks and my son wants to spend them at the phone repair shop downstairs
Let him. Two weeks with a screwdriver won't wreck class 10. Our elder one spent part of last summer helping at a neighbour's home bakery and talked to me more about money that month than the whole year before. Only thing I'd check: is he handling customers' phones with their photos and chats on them? That's the part I'd want the owner to keep him away from.
0on sat through my nephew's engineering counselling and understood nothing. mine is 13
They call from class 6 here, foundation batches for eleven year olds 🙂 Ignore, yes. My elder one is in class 10 now and the only useful thing so far was one long chat with a cousin who is doing the course she was curious about. Better than any seminar we paid for.
