Weighing English Union High School so after-school football is within reach

fern_bookmark_7836

Our son is 7 and his CBSE school is quite far from Sainikpuri. He's been asking for football for months, but by the time the school bus drops him home it's too late for any weekday batch, and on our working days neither of us can get across town to collect him early. The grandparents help, but only on their agreed days. English Union High School in Secunderabad is much closer and keeps coming up. Switching boards at 7 doesn't scare me much, but I don't want to switch schools only for football either. For parents there or nearby: roughly what time do primary kids get home, and are there any activities on campus after classes? Ektu idea pele bhalo hoy, even rough.

We had the same problem at 7, also with travel on my side. We didn't change school. We found a weekend batch near home and let weekdays be weekdays. It's not as often as he wanted, but he's still going a year on. Moving schools for the activity pickup felt like too big a lever to pull at that age.

A weekend batch is probably what we'll do when ours is old enough. Did he mind not going with school friends?
