Vocal teacher has moved her classes online for good. Does that work for a 9 year old?

My daughter has done Carnatic vocal with the same teacher for about two years, in person, twice a week. The teacher has shifted houses and now does everything on video calls. She says the children manage fine. Mine sings well enough on the call but I can see the lag. Teacher sings a phrase, it arrives late, my daughter answers late, they talk over each other. The teacher can't really hear the small slips either. Is online vocal training workable at this age, or should we find someone nearby and start over with a new teacher? She likes this one a lot, which is the whole problem.

My younger one did online Carnatic for most of one year. Lessons where the teacher sang and she repeated were all right. Lessons with both singing together were a mess for the reason you describe, the lag. What helped a little was the teacher sending short recordings, and my daughter practising with those during the week instead of on the call. She still went back to in-person once a class opened near us, and her pitch improved fast after that. I'd keep the teacher she likes for the theory and the songs, and add one in-person class if you can find one.

both my girls did online classes for a while, dance for one and veena for the other. dance was ok-ish. veena was hopeless, teacher couldn't see her fingers properly. for vocal i think the ear is the problem, the slips are small and the call cleans the sound up. if she likes the teacher, maybe ask if she does even one offline session a month somewhere central? cheaper than starting from zero with someone new.
