Two schools, two answers on whether my daughter can start class 1 in 2027

My daughter is 5 and in UKG. Her birthday is in the second half of the year, so she would turn six a few months after the 2027-28 session starts. One school we visited says she's eligible for class 1 next year. Another, also CBSE, says she'd need to repeat UKG because of the age cut-off. Both said this quite confidently. Has anyone dealt with this recently? I'd like to know which rule actually applies before we pay a registration fee anywhere.

same thing happened with our younger one, different answers from different schools. ask each of them which rule they're going by, the board's or their own admission policy, and ask to see it in writing. once we did that the confusion cleared quickly

Genuine question, since ours is only 2 and I'm reading ahead: is repeating UKG bad if she'd be among the youngest in class 1? I hear opinions both ways but rarely from anyone who's done it.
