Tuition has scheduled its own mock test in the same week as school mid-terms

My elder daughter, 10, is in class 5. Her school mid-terms start next week. Yesterday the tuition teacher announced a 'practice exam' for the same week, three papers, on the evenings between school exams. I understand the intention. But a child of 10 cannot sit a school exam in the morning and a tuition exam in the evening and do justice to either. I have not yet raised it with the tuition teacher, partly because I suspect the answer will be that the other children are all doing it. Has anyone negotiated something like this with a tutor without it becoming a standoff?

Just tell the tuition teacher she's skipping the mock this time. You're the one paying, and the school exam is the one that counts 🙂 We did this with my son's maths tutor in 8th and nobody was offended.

That was my instinct as well. I spoke to her this evening. She agreed to make the practice exam 'optional', which in tuition language may well mean not optional. We'll skip it and see what happens next week.
