Too hot to go out, and my 4 year old granddaughter is with me all day till July

Her school in Noida is shut till July, so she is with us from morning to evening. Going out after 9 is not possible in this heat. She is 4. So far: carrom (she makes her own rules), drawing, more cartoons than I would like, and helping her grandmother in the kitchen. By 3 pm we are tired of each other. What else works at this age, apart from the TV?

Water, inside the house. When our son was 4 we had the same Hyderabad summers, and what lasted longest was anything with water: a tub on the balcony in the evening, washing his toy cars, filling and emptying bottles. It also cooled him down. The activity books we bought lasted about ten minutes each, in my experience.

  Water play, yes. Also an old suitcase of clothes for dressing up. Our son wore my office ties for one whole summer, with his shorts.
