Toddler keeps food in her cheeks and walks around with it for half an hour

Our kutty is almost two. The first few bites she eats properly, then the storing starts. Chapati, rice, even banana. She wanders off with her cheeks full and spits it out twenty minutes later, usually on the sofa. Is this a phase? Should I be worried about her teeth, or about choking when she's running around like that?

Dentist here. Food sitting in the cheeks that long isn't great for the teeth, especially anything starchy or sweet. Not an emergency. A few sips of water after meals and cleaning her teeth properly at night will cover most of it. For the running around, make meals a sitting-down thing, even a short one. Our son did the same with chapati at that age and it stopped once meals got shorter.

Grandmother and still a part-time physician, so take this as one of each 😄 My granddaughter did exactly this. Usually it meant she was full and too busy playing to say so. Smaller portions, and letting her get down once she stopped chewing, sorted it in a few weeks. If choking worries you, mention it at the next paediatrician visit and let them watch her eat.
