Three late clinic evenings a week and she's asleep before I get home

mint_bookmark_9315

My late session runs till about 8.30 on three weekdays. By the time I'm home our daughter is asleep, so on those days I see her for twenty minutes in the morning, if that. I've been offered the option of moving to morning sessions from January. That would mean leaving before she wakes on those days instead, and losing the evening hours I currently use for paperwork. I'm trying to work out which really gives more time with a two year old. For those who've made this kind of switch, what did an ordinary week look like afterwards?

I did late clinics for most of my children's school years. Our compromise was a later bedtime twice a week, so those evenings weren't entirely lost. Mornings at that age are short and rushed anyway. In my experience the evenings were the better time.

I went the other way, from evening to morning procedures, when my son was about three. The mornings I lost hurt less than I expected, because he was barely awake for them. The evenings I gained were real: bath, dinner, stories. But it only worked because someone reliable got him ready in the mornings, and you'd need that too.
