Results came out this morning. By lunch, three different coaching centres had called my phone, congratulated her by name and quoted her science mark. We told nobody except her grandparents. So where are they getting it? The school? A classmate's parent forwarding a list? I want to know whom to complain to, not just block numbers.
We haven't reached class 10, but the same thing happened after our daughter's class 8 olympiad results. It turned out the school had shared a list of 'high performers' with an outside test company, and it travelled from there. The school stopped once enough parents raised it at the PTM. I'd start by asking your school straight out whether it shares student lists with anyone outside.
Emailing the class teacher and the principal tonight. If the school says no, at least I'll know where not to look.
Ayyo, by lunch itself? Ours is only in grade 8, but after one inter-school sports meet I got calls from an 'academy' that knew her full name. A lot of it is class WhatsApp groups forwarding everything everywhere 🙂 Doesn't make it okay, but it may not be one single leak.
