Thinking about Mamata High School in Begumpet for our two, who are a year apart

sunny_chai_3687

Both our children are at a play school near home for now, and we're starting to think about where they go for the coming years. Mamata High School is about ten minutes from us in Somajiguda, and a neighbour mentioned it last week. For anyone who has looked into it: do they take children in at the later pre-primary classes, or is it mostly children who started in nursery? And with two children a year apart, is it one conversation with the office or two separate applications? Trying to plan ahead rather than scramble.

  • We looked at schools for both our children in the same season. Most offices we spoke to would only discuss the younger one once the elder was confirmed, so it was really two processes with some overlap. I don't know how Mamata handles it, so that's worth asking in exactly those words when you call.

from the school side: seats in the later pre-primary classes only open up when children leave, so most schools can only tell you around march or april. ask to be put on a list and call again then

This is right. For my son I called one school in March and they said wait till April. In April they gave the seat. You have to keep calling them.

in the same spot with one kid. ten minutes from home matters more than anything else at this age imo

Proximity mattered to us too, but I'd separate two things: what suits a four year old now, and what you'll want in class 6 or 7 if you'd rather not move them later. I've watched friends move children around class 5 and it was harder than they expected. That's observation, not our own experience.
