The class quiz leaderboard is the first thing my 9 year old checks every morning

Our daughter's school started a weekly online quiz on its learning app this term, with a leaderboard for the whole class. She's 9 and has become a little obsessed with it. She checks her rank first thing in the morning, retakes the practice quizzes to climb, and was upset for a whole evening when she dropped from third to seventh. Some competition is fine, and she is learning the material. But I don't like a number on a screen setting her mood for the day. I haven't decided whether to raise it with the school, limit when she checks, or leave it and let the novelty wear off.

Ask the teacher whether the class sees everyone's rank or only their own. A lot of these apps have that setting and teachers don't always know the public board can be switched off. Until then, maybe no checking before school. Mornings are hard enough.

Checked the app myself over the weekend. The full class ranking is visible to every student. I've written to the class teacher asking whether it can be limited to individual scores. No checking before school has started. She is not pleased.
