Teacher's note on the homework: 'Let her think it through herself.' Our caregiver has been saying the answers

On my late clinic days our caregiver sits with my daughter for homework. I assumed that meant sitting. Today the class 1 notebook came back with a note in red, and this evening I sat in to see why. Every time my daughter pauses, the caregiver quietly says the answer, very kindly, and my daughter writes it down. Twenty minutes of homework, done in eight. The caregiver was mortified when I mentioned the note. She says my daughter gets tired and cries, so she 'helps finish'. My daughter, of course, is delighted with the arrangement 🙂 How do I explain to the caregiver what help should look like, without making her feel she's done something terrible? She's lovely with my daughter otherwise.

tell her she can read the question out but not say the answer. that's the rule in our house. took a few reminders

That's nice and clear. Nobody can argue with 'read it, don't answer it'. Will try it tomorrow.

his grandmother did something like this when he was smaller. the hard part for me was accepting the notebook would look worse for a while. it did. then it slowly got better on its own
