State Board in the KG years at Sharp School of Excellence, Hafeezpet. How different is it day to day?

peach_sketch_6385

My work takes me to the Hafeezpet side most afternoons, so I've been looking at UKG options near there for our younger one, and Sharp School of Excellence keeps coming up. Our elder son has been CBSE all along, so State Board is new ground for us. For anyone with a small child there, or who has done State Board in the KG years anywhere: day to day, how is it different from CBSE at that age? More writing, less, about the same? I'm not worried about class 10. I'm worried about whether a small boy spends his whole morning at a desk.

from the curriculum side: at kg level the board hardly matters. what happens in a kg class is decided by the school far more than by the board. so ask sharp what their lkg day looks like, not what state board looks like. the differences start around class 3 or 4, mostly in maths

We had the same question in the other direction, a State Board preschool and then ICSE for our daughter. What decided it in the end was not the board but how much tracing and copying went on. One school we saw had LKG children writing for most of the morning, another had them outside till eleven. Both had 'play-based' painted on the wall. If they let you watch a class, watch one.

Did they actually let you sit in? We'll be at this stage in a couple of years and so far everyone offers a tour, nobody offers a real class

      Replying to @dusk_river_6910

One of the two schools we saw for our elder son let me stay at the back for twenty minutes. The other said parents unsettle the children. Both answers told me something. In my line of work I go into a lot of schools, and the ones that are relaxed about a parent at the back of the room tend to be relaxed in general. Ask anyway.
