Son missed the relay team by one place and has gone quiet about sports day

They had trials for the class 5 sports day events this week. He came fifth in the 50 m and the relay team takes the top four. He's been looking forward to it since last year, when his friend ran the last leg. He hasn't cried. He just says 'it's fine' and changes the subject, which is not like him at all. He's still in the sack race and the group drill, but apparently those don't count. Should I raise it, or wait till he does? I'm torn between offering to practise with him for next year and making it a bigger thing than he wants ❤️
