She's asked to sit away from her best friend in class 10. The friend has taken it badly

Class 10 starts in June and our daughter has decided she talks too much in class. Her plan is to ask for a seat away from her best friend, who she's sat with since class 6. She told the friend first, which I thought was decent of her. The friend has gone quiet and the other girls are taking sides. Her amma says she's done the right thing and should hold firm. I agree, but she's 14 and more shaken by how it went than she lets on. Anything you said to your teen in a spot like this that helped? 🙂

I'd be happy if my son made a decision like that about anything. Ours is 13 and the only seat he cares about is the one in front of his console. She sounds sensible. The friendship will probably mend once school starts and they're not staring at the group chat all summer.

My daughter is 12. Last year her friend stopped talking to her for three weeks for a small reason. I told her, give time, don't explain again and again. Now they are friends again. Your girl did the correct thing by telling first.

Thank you. 'Don't explain again and again' is exactly what she has been doing, twice a day on the phone. I'll pass this on.
