she wants to come along on my bengaluru work trip. she's 8 and i'd be in demos for 3 hours

two days of customer demos in the dasara holidays, one hotel night. she's asked to come. she'd be fine at home with family, she just wants to come with nanna. my partner can't, there's a course deadline that week. so it would be me and her, and during the main demo she'd be in the hotel room or the lobby for about 3 hours. is that a bad idea at 8? i'd like to say yes.

Not alone in a hotel room for three hours at 8, no. Is there anyone you know in Bengaluru who could take her for the demo slot? If not, I'd go without her and plan a day out together when you're back.

I've taken my elder daughter along to a couple of shorter client meetings. What worked was a client office with a proper waiting area, a book and a snack, and an hour, not three. Three hours is a long stretch for any child on her own.

Ask the customer if she can sit in their lobby with a sketchbook. We did one trip like that to Pune with my son, and he still talks about the hotel breakfast more than anything else. My aai says that was the whole point anyway.

      Replying to @fern_diary_9982

Practical question, since I'll be in this position in a few years: who did your son go to if he needed something during the meeting? Did the reception staff know he was there?
