School wants an answer by month end: 'integrated' class 8 section or the regular one?

Our older daughter's school has announced an integrated section from class 8, with competitive-exam coaching built into the timetable, and parents have to opt in before the end of May. The circular uses the words 'early foundation' four times and doesn't say what gets dropped to make room. She's good at maths and science, but she also does art and plays basketball, and she's 12. I asked the office what a normal Wednesday looks like in the integrated section, and the answer was 'more focused'. Has anyone's child been in one of these sections? What did a week look like, and what went?

Our son's school pitched the same thing for class 6 last year. We asked to see the actual timetable, not the circular. PT went from three periods to one and library disappeared. That made the decision for us.

I did the coaching-everything route myself for medical entrance, long ago. Worked for the exam. I'd not do it at 12. Two years is a long time to be 'focused'.

Yes, this is what worries me most. If it runs on into 11th and 12th, she'd be 'focused' from 12 to 18. I've asked for the timetable, as suggested above. Will decide once I see what goes.

I have no experience of these sections, so treat this as a question rather than advice: is the opt-in reversible? If a child can move back to the regular section after a term without losing her place or her friends, the decision is much smaller than the circular makes it sound. If it's a one-way door, I'd want a lot more than 'more focused' before signing.
