Preschool drop is back, and it lands right on my best working hour

peach_tiffin_2914

All summer my mother was with us, and I got used to starting deep work at 8.30 with a coffee and nobody talking to me. Preschool reopens on Friday. Drop is at 9.15, so by the time I'm back and settled it will be after 10, and my meetings start at 11. My partner runs the business and mornings are the busiest time there, so I'm doing the drop. Has anyone shifted their work hours around drop instead of the other way round? Earlier start, later finish, split day? I'd like to go to my manager with something specific.

I moved my writing to 6 to 8 am when mine were small and did the drop on the way in. It was the only version that worked. Hard on sleep though 🤷

My partner leaves early for school, so drop was mine for years. I took my first call from the car park and kept 9.30 to 11 blocked as 'focus' in the calendar every day. Nobody argues with a block that has always been there 🙂

The recurring block is the part that matters. I did that for years and people simply schedule around it. Trouble only starts when you give it up 'just this once' ❤️
