playschool will hold her june seat only if we commit through ukg

lagoon_bookmark_3994

the playschool near us has a seat for her in june. to confirm it they want a signed form for nursery, lkg and ukg, and the deposit is non-refundable if we leave before ukg ends. i haven't decided where she goes for kg yet. is this normal now?

is a form like that even enforceable for a playschool

We were handed something similar for our son at a preschool a few years ago. I asked whether they would confirm the seat for one year only, with the deposit adjusted, and after some back and forth they agreed. Worth asking directly. They may have more room than the form suggests.

three years of commitment for a child who changes her favourite colour every week. i'd want to know what they're offering in return, apart from the seat

From the school side: they do this because children who leave after nursery leave seats that are hard to fill later. That's their planning problem, not yours. If they won't budge, ask exactly what portion is refundable and get it in writing before you pay anything.
