Until now my partner's OPD days and my heavy teaching days didn't overlap, so one of us could always do the 12.30 preschool pickup. From September the hospital has moved OPD to Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which are exactly my full days. What do people do for three fixed afternoons a week? Daycare after preschool, a part-time helper, something else?
Does the preschool have an afternoon daycare option, or is there one nearby that collects? That's the obvious fix. A helper for three fixed afternoons is harder to find than people think.
Preschool doesn't have one. There's a daycare two roads away that says it picks up from a couple of preschools. Going to ask if ours is one of them.
I'd agree the helper is the harder route. From what friends here went through, everyone wants either full days or nothing. The daycare that collects is worth checking first.
Any grandparent who can come for those three days? I do four afternoons a week for my granddaughter. Not every family can, I know.
Not an option for us right now, sadly. It would have been the first call.
Is either job flexible on one of the three days? Even one swapped day makes the other two easier to cover.
