Paediatrician says my 6 year old needs 'more protein'. More than what?

Routine visit. Weight fine, height fine. At the very end: give him more protein. That was it. No number, no food list. He's vegetarian. Dal at dinner most days, curd at lunch, milk twice. Paneer when we make it. No eggs at home. If you have a vegetarian kid this age, what does a protein-heavy day look like for you? Actual meals, not 'add sprouts'.

We're vegetarian too. A normal school day here: besan chilla or moong dosa in the morning, dal-rice or khichdi with curd in the tiffin, roasted chana for the snack, and paneer or soya in some form at dinner three or four nights a week. Peanuts go into almost everything, poha, sabzi, chikki. Nobody planned it as 'protein', it's just how I grew up eating.

Useful, thanks. Soya chunks or the granules? He picked every chunk out the last time we tried.

you could ask the paediatrician 'more than what' at the next visit. ours once said 'more iron' and when i asked, she wrote down three foods on her pad. that note is still on our fridge
