paati is staying with us for a few weeks and does 20 mins every evening. she loves it. but her school writing this week had a tamil 'ka' in the middle of an english word. phase? or pause the tamil till english settles 😂

Our daughter is learning Bengali letters from my mother the same way, and she mixed scripts for a few weeks too. It sorted itself out without us doing anything. I wouldn't pause something she loves.

Ours mixed Telugu and English letters at that age. Gone by class 2.

update: asked her about the 'ka'. she said the english word 'needed it'. can't argue with that 😂

Coming back to this. I asked her class teacher at our end-of-year meeting yesterday, and she said mixing scripts is common at this age in homes with two languages and usually settles once both are practised. Not my area, just passing it on.
