Our two hear almost no Telugu at home. Would the early classes at Sujatha High School be hard going?

My office is on that side two days a week, and Sujatha High School in Abids is one State Board option I keep hearing about. Ours are in ICSE schools now, the younger in LKG and the older in UKG. Marathi and English at home, Telugu only in bits from our caregiver. What I'd like to know is how much Telugu the early classes involve, and whether children who arrive with very little manage. We haven't decided on State Board at all. I'm trying to understand what we would be choosing.

state board till 10 for my son, not at this school. telugu was there from class 1 as second language. kids who came in without it struggled with reading the first year, by class 3 most were fine. depends a lot on the teacher

That's useful. Did your son keep reading Telugu after school, or did it fade once English took over? Our daughter picks up spoken Telugu from her caregiver and I wonder how much of that lasts.

      Replying to @maple_river_7571

I'd like to know that as well. Ours pick up spoken Telugu from our caregiver too, but reading is a separate thing.

Can't speak for Sujatha specifically. We're Tamil at home and our son started Telugu in class 1 with nothing. He reads slowly even now, going into class 4, but he gets through. The writing came before the reading for him, oddly.
